Sens. Horn, Schuitmaker and Jones continue Nativity scene tradition on Capitol lawn

LANSING, Mich. — State Sens. Ken Horn, Tonya Schuitmaker and Rick Jones will continue the tradition of setting up a Nativity scene on the Capitol lawn Thursday morning. The display will be located on the east lawn of the Michigan Capitol and the public is encouraged to come out to see the display, which will be up daily from Thursday, Dec. 15 through Christmas Day.

Horn will be bringing a Nativity scene that features an infant Jesus in his manger with the Virgin Mary and Joseph that the senator purchased at Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth. The three senators will put up the display on Thursday morning and Jones, whose district is nearby, will commute to the Capitol every day from Friday, Dec. 16 through Christmas to put up the Nativity scene in the morning and then dismantle it each night by 9 p.m., in order to comply with Capitol Commission rules.
