Senate adopts resolution honoring former lawmaker

LANSING, Mich. — The state Senate on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution honoring the life and legacy of a former West Michigan lawmaker.

Senate Resolution 114 commemorates the service of former Senate Majority Leader Robert VanderLaan to the state of Michigan. VanderLaan died on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker, R-Lawton, joined Sen. Dave Hildenbrand, R-Lowell, as he offered comments in support of the resolution. Hildenbrand and Schuitmaker currently represent the communities that made up VanderLaan’s previous district.
